Marcus Canizales Dead, Christopher Jost Severely Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 88 near Red Lake

 
ALPINE COUNTY CA (May 29, 2024) — Marcus Canizales died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 88 near Red Lake Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the double motorcycle collision happened on Memorial Day around 5:00 p.m. In an attempt to make an unsafe pass across the double yellow lines, 50-year-old Canizales rode upon an oncoming 2007 BMW motorcycle. Subsequently, Canizales’s 2007 Harley Davidson V-Rod collided with the BMW, throwing both riders onto the highway.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and took 52-year-old Christopher Jost — the BMW rider from Gardnerville — to Barton Memorial Hospital where he remains in serious yet stable condition. Canizales, however, passed away from severe head trauma.
 
Authorities determined that both men were wearing their helmets. If anyone has more details on this fatal crash, please call the CHP.
