Man in Wheelchair Suffers Broken Leg after Hit by Trash Truck on Cuyamaca Street in Santee

 
SANTEE, CA (January 9, 2024) – A man in a wheelchair was injured in a pedestrian accident on Cuyamaca Street in Santee Friday afternoon on January 5.
 
The accident happened just after 1:15 p.m. just north of Highway 52. According to the California Highway Patrol, a trash truck hit the man in the wheelchair in unclear circumstances.
 
The man appeared to have suffered a broken leg and was taken to a hospital, officials said.
 
Deputies shut down a traffic lane on the southbound side of Cuyamaca Street while they worked on the scene.
 
Neither alcohol nor speed played a role in the crash. CHP officials are still investigating the accident to determine the factors involved and liability.
