MERCED, CA (March 11, 2024) — A man walking his dog died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on V Street and 12th Street on Friday.
 
According to Merced police officers, the fatal hit-and-run happened around 7:30 p.m. For an unknown reason, a driver left the scene after hitting a man walking his dog. Soon after, police and paramedics responded to find the victim with fatal injuries and the driver unaccounted for.
 
Following the incident, police combed the scene for evidence and clues to the crash. According to what they culled, they believed an early 2000s white or light-colored Chevy SUV was involved. However, an investigation continues.
