Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries after Hit by Car on University Avenue in Chollas Creek

 
CHOLLAS CREEK, CA (April 9, 2024) – A 35-year-old man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on University Avenue in the Chollas Creek neighborhood late Sunday evening on April 7.
 
The accident happened around 10:27 p.m. at 54th Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, the male pedestrian was walking southbound across University Avenue when a 2016 Toyota Camry hit him.
 
The 69-year-old male driver of the car was heading northbound 54th Street. At the same time, the pedestrian entered intersection on a green light.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where the victim was treated for a brain bleed, fractured left fibula and liver laceration.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
