Hit-and-Run Crash on 905 Freeway in Otay Mesa Sends One Driver to Hospital with Major Injuries

 
OTAY MESA, CA (July 31, 2023) – A man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on 905 Freeway in Otay Mesa early Friday morning on July 28.
 
The crash happened just before 4:00 a.m. near the connecting ramp to the northbound 805 Freeway. According to the CHP, the man was driving a Mini Cooper westbound on 905 Freeway when he was struck by another car. The impact sent the Mini Cooper off the roadway.
 
After the crash, the other car fled the scene.
 
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews extricated the man from the wreckage and took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still searching for the hit-and-run driver. An investigation is ongoing.
