EL CAJON, CA (February 9, 2021) – A man was seriously injured after a bicycle accident on South First Street in El Cajon Thursday evening.
 
The bicycle accident happened around 7:00 p.m., February 3 near Lexington Avenue.
 
According to El Cajon police, the man was riding in a bicycle lane on South First Street when a sedan struck him while making a turn into a driveway.
 
As a result, the victim suffered severe head trauma and a possible broken femur. Paramedics transported him to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for proper treatment.
 
An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available, and it remains unclear if the bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
 
Meanwhile, the sedan’s driver stayed at the scene, and intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in this bicycle accident.
