Two Vehicles Collide on Atlanta Avenue in Huntington Beach Killing One Driver

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (July 11, 2023) – A man died in a two-vehicle accident at Atlanta Avenue and Bushard Street in Huntington Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on July 5. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, a silver Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Bushard Street when it entered the intersection with Atlanta Avenue against a red light. At the same time, a gray Mercedes-Benz GLC was traveling east on Atlanta Avenue and entered the intersection with Bushard Street on a green light. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
 
As a result, the driver of the Corolla suffered serious injuries. Responding paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
Authorities only identified the deceased as a 68-year-old Huntington Beach resident.
 
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a 23-year-old Yorba Linda man, and his two adult passengers had minor injuries.
 
Police said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
