Senior Citizen on Motorcycle Dies after Crash with Sedan in Apple Valley

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (May 27, 2024) – Robert Calvin Witt was killed in a motorcycle accident in Apple Valley Saturday morning on May 25.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. at Standing Rock Avenue and Blackfoot Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Witt was riding a 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide west along Standing Rock Avenue. At the same time, a northbound 2017 Honda Civic was proceeding through the intersection across Standing Rock Avenue from Pine Ridge Avenue onto Blackfoot Road.
 
Witt, a 68-year-old Apple Valley resident, broadsided the Civic in the intersection. The impact caused him fatal injuries and he died at the scene.
 
The Civic crashed through the chain-linked fence of a corner home, ending up in the yard. The driver, a 51-year-old Apple Valley woman, stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
According to public records, Witt’s home was less than a mile from the crash site.
 
The intersection is regulated by a stop sign for northbound and southbound traffic, while traffic east and west along Standing Rock Road flows freely.
