Scooter Rider Suffers Broken Leg after Hit by Truck near El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 27, 2024) – A 46-year-old man was seriously injured in a scooter accident near El Cajon Boulevard and Fairmont Avenue in San Diego on Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened just after 10:00 a.m. on May 22. According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was riding an electric scooter eastbound on the south sidewalk of El Cajon Boulevard when he entered the intersection against a red light.
 
A GMC Penske truck heading southbound on Fairmont Avenue then struck the scooter rider near the intersection.
 
The scooter rider suffered a broken leg and was transported to a nearby hospital.
 
The driver of the truck, identified as a 67-year-old man, was not hurt.
 
An investigation by SDPD’s Traffic Division remains ongoing at this time. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
