Man Killed, Santiago Ambriz-Cervantez Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash on Bishop Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Bishop Avenue near Shields Avenue

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (July 28, 2023) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Bishop Avenue in Fresno County Wednesday evening on July 26.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:40 p.m. just north of Shields Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, 32-year-old Santiago Ambriz-Cervantez of Kerman was driving a Honda Pilot northbound on Bishop Avenue, approaching the male pedestrian.
 
Ambriz-Cervantez failed to avoid the pedestrian and struck him. After striking the man, he stopped to check the damage on his vehicle. After that, he drove away.
 
First responders declared the man dead at the scene.
 
A witness followed the suspect to Floyd Avenue, where he was later arrested.
 
Ambriz-Cervantez was booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony hit-and-run.
