Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on Highway 198 in Visalia

 
VISALIA, CA (February 15, 2022) – A 40-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 198 in Visalia on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened on February 13, near County Center Drive and Santa Fe Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian ran from the center median across the highway’s eastbound lanes when an oncoming Subaru Forester struck him.
 
CHP officials said the driver was unable to avoid hitting the man.
 
The unidentified man was taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
