Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on 5 Freeway in Bankers Hills Neighborhood

 
BANKERS HILL, CA (September 26, 2022) – A 23-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in the Bankers Hill neighborhood of San Diego on Thursday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on September 22 near West Hawthorn Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking northbound on the freeway when a Kia SUV struck him.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Authorities withheld the victim’s name pending family notification.
 
The accident prompted a closure of two lanes on the freeway in the area for about an hour.
