Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Harney Lane in Lodi

 
LODI, CA (August 1, 2022) — A man died in a motorcycle accident on Harney Lane at Stockton Street on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident happened around 11:44 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 31-year-old man began speeding westbound on Highway 12 near the 5 Freeway in a 2021 Harley-Davidson. As officers tried to pursue him, the 31-year-old raced away, leading officers on a brief chase.
 
Nearly 10 minutes later, the motorcyclist ran a red traffic light at Stockton Street and Harney Lane and struck the right rear of a Ford F-150 making a U-turn.
 
As a result of the impact, the man suffered severe injuries when he was ejected from his bike and died later at San Joaquin General Hospital. Officers have yet to release his name.
 
Fortunately, the male driver in the Ford truck reported no injuries.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed if DUI played a factor. However, anyone with information should contact the CHP.
