Man Killed, Lisa Rueckheim Injured in Broadside Accident on Highway 152 [Dos Palos, CA]

Broadside Crash on Highway 152 in Dos Palos Kills 1 and Injures 2

 
DOS PALOS, CA (August 30, 2023) – A man died and Lisa Rueckheim was injured in a broadside accident on Highway 152 in Dos Palos Tuesday morning on August 29.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 5:30 a.m. at Turner Island Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 26-year-old man was driving a 2003 Honda Accord southbound on Turner Island Road and was approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 152.
 
Rueckheim, a 38-year-old Merced resident, was driving a 2020 Buick Encore west along Highway 152.
 
For unknown reasons, the man driving the Honda failed to stop at the posted stop sign. Rueckheim was unable to avoid him and collided with the driver’s side of the Honda.
 
Both vehicles continued west and ended up blocking both lanes of Highway 152.
 
The man suffered major injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.

Rueckheim and a 12-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to a Modesto hospital.

Everyone was wearing their seatbelts, the CHP said.

Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
