Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in San Jacinto

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (May 4, 2023) – A man died and Juan Carlos Rodriguez Salgado was arrested in a hit-and-run crash in San Jacinto early Monday morning on May 1.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:00 a.m. on San Jacinto Avenue near Seventh Street. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Salgado was driving at an undetermined speed along San Jacinto Avenue, approaching Seventh Street, when he allegedly ran into the man who was walking on the street.
 
After striking the victim, Salgado drove away.
 
A witness who found the man lying in the street, unconscious with obvious head injuries, called 911.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
Deputies located the vehicle and driver several blocks away on Evans Street. They arrested Salgado and booked him into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death.
 
Salgado was being held Tuesday in lieu of $75,000 bail.
