Fiery Crash on Highway 49 in Nevada County Leaves One Adult and One Child Dead, Another Child in Critical Condition

 
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (May 4, 2023) – Two people were killed in a fiery accident on Highway 49 in Nevada County Tuesday afternoon on May 2.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:10 p.m. at Cameo Drive, just north of the highway’s intersection with Wolf and Combie roads. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on the highway when it left the east side of the roadway.
 
The pickup truck went down a hillside and rolled over. It then crashed into trees and caught fire.
 
As a result, the adult driver and one child both died at the scene.
 
Another child, about one year old, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.
 
CHP officials are still working to determine the relationship between the passengers. They also have not determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
An investigation is underway.
