Police Arrest Janet Mendoza for Felony Hit-and-Run after Fatally Striking Man in Santee

 
SANTEE, CA (September 25, 2022) – A man died while police arrested Janet Rivera Mendoza after a hit-and-run crash in Santee early Friday morning, September 23.
 
Around 12:23 a.m., police pulled over the 27-year-old suspect after observing recent right-front-end crash damage to her blue Nissan Altima on 5 Freeway near the 8 Freeway interchange.
 
The enforcement stop led officers to conduct a search on Highway 67, where they found the man suffering from major injuries. The injuries were consistent of being struck by a vehicle near Woodside Avenue around 12:45 a.m.
 
Officers attempted life-saving aid on the man, but the victim died at the scene.
 
Police later found Mendoza and arrested her. They booked her into Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run.
 
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the victim following an investigation into his identity.
