Hit-and-Run Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian near Betteravia Road in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (April 19, 2023) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash near Betteravia Road and Oakley Avenue in Santa Maria on Monday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on April 17. According to police, a dark-colored sedan struck the pedestrian who was walking in the area.
 
Police said the driver did not stop and was last seen traveling westbound on Betteravia Road.
 
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being witheld at this time pending proper notification to his next of kin.
 
Police are still investigating the fatality. They urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Santa Maria Police Department Traffic Bureau at 805-928-3781 ext. 2291.
