Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Avalon Boulevard in Florence

 
FLORENCE, CA (March 4, 2024) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Avalon Boulevard and 81st Street in the Florence area of Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on March 3. According to Los Angeles Police Department, the 46-year-old male pedestrian was crossing east on Avalon Boulevard in an unmarked crosswalk. A vehicle traveling southbound then struck him.
 
After the crash, the vehicle continued southbound on Avalon without stopping.
 
Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
The city is offering a reward of up to $50,000 to the public for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
