One Killed in Car Accident on Highway 78 near El Camino Real [Oceanside, CA]

Car Crashes into Parked Excavator on Highway 78 in Oceanside Killing One and Severely Injuring Another

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 4, 2024) – One person died and another was severely injured in a car accident on Highway 78 in Oceanside Sunday afternoon on March 3.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 4:15 p.m. near El Camino Real. According to the Oceanside Fire Department, a small car was traveling eastbound when it crashed into a large excavator that was parked near the shoulder.
 
First responders freed one person in the wreckage and rushed them to a nearby trauma center.
 
Sadly, that person went into a traumatic cardiac arrest in the ambulance.
 
Another person was in critical condition.
 
It is unclear at this time whether it was the passenger or the driver who succumbed to their injuries.
 
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
