Man Dies in 2-Car Crash on Mt Whitney Avenue in Fresno County

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 8, 2023) — A man died in a head-on accident on Mt Whitney Avenue near Howard Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-car crash happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, a 45-year-old Five Points man drove his eastbound 2003 Honda over the broken yellow lines of the road. Traveling at an unknown speed, the Honda crashed into a westbound 2008 Nissan, traveling approximately 55 miles per hour.
 
Minutes later, CHP officers and paramedics responded and confirmed the Honda driver deceased at the scene. Paramedics transported the female driver of the Nissan to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.
 
At this time, authorities do not have an explanation for the crash and whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.
