Man Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 180 near George Smith Road [Fresno County, CA]

Head-On Crash on Highway 180 in Fresno County Kills One and Injures Two

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 19, 2024) – A man was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 180 in Fresno County Sunday morning on February 18.
 
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. just west of George Smith Road near Yokuts Valley. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Highway 180 when he went into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota Tundra.
 
The impact caused the driver of the Chevrolet fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was a 30-year-old Sanger resident.
 
Two people in the Toyota were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with lacerations to their hands. One of them also had a broken arm.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors.
