Four-Car Pileup on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland Kills 1 Driver

 
OAKLAND, CA (April 24, 2023) – A man was killed in a four-car pileup on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland early Saturday morning on April 22.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:18 a.m., according to the Oakland Police Department. The 51-year-old Alameda man was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck southbound when he crashed into the rear of a Mazda CX-9 SUV that was stopped at a traffic light in the 2700 block of Telegraph Avenue.
 
The impact of the crash forced the Mazda to collide into a Nissan Altima and a Toyota Camry.
 
First responders rushed the unidentified driver of the Tacoma to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
 
Occupants in the other vehicles sustained unspecified injuries. They sought medical treatment on their own.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
