Man Dies in DUI 2-Car Crash on 5 Freeway in Stockton

 
STOCKTON, CA (August 8, 2023) — A man died in a DUI two-car accident on the 5 Freeway near March Lane.
 
According to reports, the drunk driving crash happened around 11:56 p.m. Saturday.
 
For DUI-related reasons, a man driving a Dodge sedan struck an SUV on the southbound side. Subsequently, the force of the impact caused the SUV to hit the center divider.
 
Minutes later, California Highway Patrol officers arrived to find one man, an occupant of the SUV, lying unconscious on the road and a white vehicle parked at the shoulder. While investigating the incident, authorities confirmed the man dead at 12:37 a.m. Sunday.
 
Authorities arrested the driver of the Dodge on DUI charges. Other people in the SUV suffered non-life-threatening, serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.
 
Due to the crash, officers closed the southbound side for over two hours as they scoured the scene for details.
