Fatal Head-On Accent on Hammonton-Smartsville Road Outside Beale Air Force Base

 
YUBA COUNTY, CA (October 13, 2021) – A man died and Darrell Drivon was hurt after a head-on accident on Hammonton-Smartsville Road Tuesday morning.
 
The accident a little after 7:00 a.m. on October 12, just east of Doolittle Drive outside Beale Air Force Base. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 29-year-old Yuba City was driving a silver 2008 Infiniti M35 eastbound at a high rate of speed and was passing vehicles.
 
The man then lost control of the Infiniti while in a curve. The car spun out, entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a white Clark Pest Control Ford F-150.
 
As a result of the crash, the Infiniti burst into flames, trapping the driver inside. The man died at the scene.
 
Drivon, a 53-year-old Grass Valley resident, was the driver of pest control truck. He complained of pain but declined to be taken to a hospital.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
