78-Year-Old Ben Lomond Man Dies after Car Accident on Quail Hollow Road in Zayante

 
ZAYANTE, CA (April 8, 2022) – A 78-year-old man from Ben Lomond died in a car accident on Quail Hollow Road on Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on April 6 at about 11:10 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound 2013 Kia Soul veered off the roadway.
 
The Kia hit a guy wire and went 40 to 50 feet down a dirt embankment. Then, the vehicle continued down into Zayante Creek.
 
Firefighters extricated the driver from the partially submerged vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was later pronounced dead.
 
Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Responders closed Quail Hollow Road from West Zayante Road to East Zayante Road until 2:00 p.m.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
