Morning Broadside Crash on 405 Freeway in Irvine Kills 39-Year-Old Driver

 
IRVINE, CA (December 5, 2022) – A 39-year-old man was killed in a broadside accident on 405 Freeway in Irvine Friday morning on December 2.
 
The accident happened around 5:45 a.m., just south of Jamboree Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Nissan 350Z when he lost control of his car while entering the southbound freeway. He wound up being perpendicular to freeway traffic and entered the far right lane. That was where he was hit on the driver’s side by an SUV.
 
First responders rushed the driver of the Nissan to OC Global Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV was taken to Mission Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
Investigators said they do not believe impaired driving to be a factor, but speed and wet roadways may have factored into the crash.
