Man Hurt in Fiery Car Accident on 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (June 20, 2023) — A man suffered burns in a fiery car accident on the 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the single-car crash happened around 1:40 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence near the Newhall Avenue exit. The car quickly ruptured in flames, and the fire spread to nearby dry vegetation.
 
Drivers saw black smoke billowing from the Newhall Avenue exit, and firefighters responded soon after to put out the blaze.
 
The driver suffered first- and second-degree burns on 15 percent of his body. Paramedics took him to a hospital for care.
 
Fortunately, no other structures nearby were threatened or damaged by the fire. However, authorities had to close the Newhall Avenue off-ramp due to the accident.
