Pedestrian Sustains Collapsed Lung and Multiple Fractures after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on National Avenue

 
SOUTHCREST, CA (August 16, 2023) – A 46-year-old man was hospitalized in a hit-and-run crash on National Avenue in the Southcrest neighborhood of San Diego on Monday evening.
 
The crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. near South 37th Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 2020 GMC Sierra was traveling westbound when it struck the male pedestrian who was attempting to cross National Avenue.
 
After striking the victim, the Sierra veered to the left and then collided with a wall.
 
The man sustained a collapsed lung and multiple fractures. His condition was unknown at this time.
 
Meanwhile, the truck drove away from the scene and was recovered in the 3600 block of Logan Avenue.
 
The department’s traffic division is still investigating the crash. They urged anyone with further information to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
