ENCINITAS, CA (January 16, 2024) — A man hit by a train near Vulcan Avenue and D Street late Saturday night died.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 11:30 p.m. For an unknown reason, a southbound BNSF freight train struck the male pedestrian. Soon after, responding deputies found the man with fatal injuries. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will not identify the man until they notify his family.
