Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car at Underground Parking Garage on Park Boulevard in East Village

 
EAST VILLAGE, CA (August 14, 2023) – A man was hit and killed at a parking garage on Park Boulevard in East Village Friday evening on August 11.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at an underground garage near C Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 47-year-old man was walking south along the east sidewalk of 1000 11th Avenue when he stumbled and fell down the driveway to the underground parking for 1080 Park Boulevard.
 
At that same time, a 38-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on 1000 11th Avenue and made a right turn into the underground parking garage. He was not able to see the pedestrian and drove over him.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered major internal injuries. First responders rushed him to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police said DUI was not a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.

SDPD’s Traffic Division urged witnesses of the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
