Man Hit, Killed by 4 Cars in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Highway 178 in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 10, 2023) — A man was hit and killed by four cars in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 178 near Golden State Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened on January 6. For unknown reasons, the victim walked in an unknown direction and into the path of an unknown make and model. The car subsequently struck the man with an impact that hurled him into the air before he landed in the path of an oncoming Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Elantra and Kia.
 
According to reports, the drivers of the Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Sonata went home but returned shortly after to the scene, where the Kia driver stayed after the crash.
 
The first driver who struck the pedestrian, however, left the scene.
 
Authorities have not confirmed if DUI played a factor in this accident and the coroner’s office has yet to release the victim’s name.
 
An investigation into this crash should reveal more details.
