Man Killed During Escondido Car Wash Accident on Valley Parkway
ESCONDIDO, CA (April 19, 2022) — A man died during a car wash accident on Valley Parkway near Quarry Glen on Friday night.
According to Escondido police, the fatal incident happened in the 2100 block of East Valley Parkway at Pearl Car Wash, a self-service station that has an automatic drive-thru car wash.
For unknown reasons, a 56-year-old man tried to exit his Scion xB hatchback in the car wash station. Subsequently, the vehicle rolled forward and pinned him in between the car and the car wash machinery.
According to Sgt. Chris Leso, the car wash was not activated at the time of the incident.
When the alarm went off, a person nearby found the man and contacted the police, who responded with paramedics. Upon arriving, emergency personnel brought the victim to Palomar Medical Center where he died soon after.
