Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SAN CLEMENTE, CA (September 22, 2021) — A man died in Saturday’s pedestrian crash on the 5 Freeway near Basilone Road.
 
According to officers, the fatal incident happened around 11:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a man, whose identity has not been released, was walking in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. Subsequently, a 47-year-old woman operating a Toyota Corolla struck him. Subsequently, several other cars ran over the victim.
 
Soon after, paramedics and authorities responded to confirm that the pedestrian had died.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics brought a 25-year-old Toyota passenger to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
 
At this point, authorities have not determined if impairment played a factor. However, witnesses with information on this accident should contact the California Highway Patrol.
