Hit-and-Run Accident on East 49th Street in Alameda Leaves Man in Critical Condition

 
ALAMEDA, CA (February 24, 2021) – A 51-year-old man sustained critical injuries Sunday after a hit-and-run accident on East 49th Street in Central-Alameda area of Los Angeles.
 
The accident happened around 10:15 a.m., February 21 in the 1100 block of East 49th Street near Central Avenue.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man was returning home from a market when a vehicle struck him. After the crash, the vehicle did not stop, leaving the victim with multiple blunt force traumas.
 
Paramedics took the man to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center in critical condition.
 
The vehicle was described as a green 2004 to 2009 Toyota Prius with a heavily damaged front windshield, the LAPD said.
 
The city is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run driver.
 
Anyone with information on the driver’s whereabouts was asked to call LAPD Officer C. LaFleur at Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713.
