43-Year-Old Man Dies after Suspected Hit-and-Run Crash in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 7, 2024)Leonard John Johnson was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield Tuesday morning on February 6.
 
Around 7:00 a.m., KCSO deputies responded to the area of Cottonwood Road, just north of Buena Vista Boulevard for a report of a possible body in the road. Upon arrival, they found the dead body of Johnson.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office said he died at 6:50 a.m. He was a 43-year-old Bakersfield resident.
 
According to detectives, Johnson appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.
 
The date and time of the incident leading up to his death is unknown. An investigation is underway.
