CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (November 30, 2023) — Leah Phillips was hit and killed by a car on California City Boulevard near Deep Well Street.
 
According to California City police officers, the deadly pedestrian accident happened Wednesday night. For an unknown reason, 27-year-old Leah Makiah Ida Phillips parked her vehicle on the roadside and ran into traffic. Subsequently, an oncoming vehicle struck her.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office recently identified her.
 
Following the accident, the driver pulled over and waited for the authorities.
 
At the time of the investigation, officers did not suspect speed or alcohol to have played a factor. However, the crash remains under investigation.
