Lucerne Valley Crash Kills Two 16-Year-Old Girls, Kayden Davis and Kristy Klaus

 
LUCERNE VALLEY California (April 12, 2022) – 16-year-old Kristy Klaus and 16-year-old Kayden Davis died in a car accident in Lucerne Valley on Friday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:57 p.m. on April 8 at the intersection of Highway 247 and Camp Rock Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the victims were in the back seat of a maroon Honda CRV driven by Christy Rees, Klaus’ grandmother.
 
For unknown reasons, the Honda collided with another car. The impact caused the Honda to roll over on its side nearly 100 feet off the side of the roadway.
 
Firefighters paramedics responded and provided aid, but Klaus and Davis both died at the scene. Both were 16 years old and from Lucerne Valley. They were sophomores at Lucerne Valley Middle/High School.
 
Rees and the other driver both suffered critical injuries. One of the patients was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center while the second was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
 
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
