Kevin Spruell Dead in DUI Accident on Center Avenue and Shifting Sands

 
JOSHUA TREE, CA (March 17, 2022) — A 49-year-old man from Joshua Tree identified as Kevin Spruell Sr. died in a DUI crash on Monday, March 14.
 
The incident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. on Center Avenue and Shifting Sands.
 
California Highway Patrol said that a 24-year-old Kevin Spruell Jr. from Joshua Tree drove a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker northbound. Spruell Sr. was in the passenger seat.
 
According to the police, the driver’s level of intoxication caused him to unsafely turned the Chevrolet to the left. It caused the car to roll over onto a dirt berm on private property. Neither occupant wore a seatbelt, so the impact caused threw around within the vehicle.
 
Medics pronounced Spruell Sr. dead after the incident.
 
The driver sustained major injuries. Medics rushed him by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palms Springs. Police said they evaluated him for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and drugs.
 
Police arrested Spruell Jr. on DUI charges. He is currently receiving treatment at DRMC for his injuries.
