Passenger Dies in Early Morning DUI Crash in Nevada County

 
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (April 22, 2024)Kasey Patrick was killed in a DUI crash in Nevada County early Sunday morning on April 21.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on Highway 49, just north of Oak Drive, about 10 miles south of Grass Valley. According to the California Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Isabella Christmon of Nevada County was driving a 2016 Volkswagen Passat northbound when she failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway.
 
The car drifted off the right side of the highway and hit several oak trees. It then went down a steep hillside embankment until it stopped its side about 45 feet from the road.
 
Patrick suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a passenger in the car. She was also a 23-year-old Nevada County resident.
 
Meanwhile, Christmon suffered major injuries. Authorities later arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
