Joyce Ellis Killed in Motorhome Accident on 15 Freeway [Barstow, CA]

Toyota Collides with Motorhome in Barstow Killing Passenger Joyce Ellis

 
BARSTOW, CA (June 13, 2022) – Joyce Ann Ellis died in a motorhome accident on 15 Freeway in Barstow on Tuesday, June 7.
 
The accident happened around 11:01 p.m. just south of East Main Street. According to the CHP, a 2003 Toyota Tundra was traveling at an unknown speed on the first lane of the freeway. At the same time, the motorhome carrying six people was traveling at approximately 65 mph.
 
For unknown reasons, the male driver of the Toyota drove right into the path of the motorhome and struck its left front. Both vehicles joined together, traveled up an ascending dirt embankment, and came to rest against a concrete storage facility building.
 
Ellis, one of the passengers in the motorhome, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Barstow Community Hospital, where she later died. She was a 76-year-old Indio resident.
 
A 23-year-old passenger in the motorhome suffered moderate injurie and was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The driver and the remaining passengers had minor injuries.
 
The driver and the 20-year-old passenger of the Toyota were transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton with major injuries.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident. They asked witnesses to call them at 760-255-5900.
