12-Year-Old Girl Dies after Struck by Cargo Van in Apple Valley

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (November 11, 2023) – Journee Buchanan-Williams was hit and killed by a vehicle in Apple Valley late Monday evening on November 6.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:00 p.m. on Highway 18 near Apple Valley Road. According to the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station, a white Ford Transit Connect cargo van was traveling eastbound on the highway, approaching Apple Valley Road.
 
At the same time, Buchanan-Williams was walking northbound on Apple Valley Road approaching the intersection with the highway when the van struck her.
 
As a result, Buchanan-Williams suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a local hospital, where she later died. She was 12 years old.
 
Another child, who was walking with the victim, was not injured.
 
The driver of the van, a 58-year-old Apple Valley man, remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. He was also unharmed.
