Elderly Man Dies after Crashing into a Big Rig on Highway 138 in Lancaster

 
LANCASTER, CA (August 29, 2023) – Joseph Bongiorno Jr. was killed in a traffic accident in Lancaster Sunday evening on August 27.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:55 p.m. on Highway 138 at 85th Street West. According to the California Highway Patrol, Bongiorno Jr. was driving a silver Honda CRV eastbound on the highway when he tried to overtake a car in front of him and collided with a big rig.
 
The Honda then went off the roadway and into a field.
 
Bongiorno Jr. suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 80 years old, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. His city of residence was not known.
 
No other injuries were reported.
 
This fatality is still under investigation.
