Jose Romero Dies After Truck Runs Him Over on Madison Avenue near Belmont Avenue

 
ROOSEVELT, CA (November 16, 2023) — Jose Romero died after being run over by his truck on Madison Avenue near Belmont Avenue Tuesday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m. For an unknown reason, Jose Vasquez Romero pulled over and exited his 2000 Ford F-150 truck without putting the vehicle in Park or setting the emergency brake.
 
After walking to the rear of his vehicle, his Ford rolled in reverse and struck him, causing him to fall to the ground where the left front tire rolled onto his chest.
 
Soon after, a passerby saw Romero and contacted 911.
 
From there, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to perform CPR, but the 51-year-old Fresno man succumbed to his injuries.
 
Authorities do not have confirmation on the factors leading to the crash. However, authorities are investigating alcohol as a likely cause.
