Passenger Dies after Pickup Truck and Sedan Collide in Rio Linda

 
RIO LINDA, CA (November 30, 2023) – Jose Martinez Herrera was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Rio Linda Wednesday morning on December 29.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:44 a.m. near West 6th Street and West Elkhorn Boulevard. The CHP said a Ford pickup truck was making a left turn onto Highway 99 from a stop sign on West Sixth Street when it struck the right side of a Honda Civic that was heading eastbound on Elkhorn.
 
As a result, Herrera died at the scene. He was the Honda Civic’s passenger. He was 30 yeas old of Marysville, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
The Civic’s driver complained of pain and was taken to the hospital.
 
The pickup’s driver was unharmed.
 
Drugs and alcohol di not play a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
