Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver after Causing Deadly Crash on Airport Boulevard in South San Francisco

 
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA (November 30, 2023)Kham Lam was killed in a wrong-way accident in South San Francisco early Tuesday morning on November 21.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:24 a.m. on Airport Boulevard. Police said a 40-year-old Antioch woman was driving the wrong way when she crossed through two intersections with traffic lights. She then collided head-on with another vehicle.
 
After the crash, the woman walked into a nearby Denny’s restaurant and calmly asked for water, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. She did not mention the crash to employees or ask to call police.
 
When police arrived at the scene and questioned her, she gave multiple inconsistent statements.
 
Meanwhile, the man in other vehicle died at the scene. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified Lam as the fatal victim. He was a 56-year-old Daly City resident.
 
Two days after the crash, police arrested the woman, who pled not guilty to the vehicular manslaughter charge.
 
Police booked her on $50,000 bail at San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City.
