Sedan and Train Collide in Fresno County Killing Married Couple

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 22, 2023)Jorge Martinez Escalante and Guadalupe Lopez Bororquez were killed in a crash with a train in Fresno County on Sunday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. at East Conejo Avenue and South Peach Avenue. Escalante was driving a sedan when he drove around the railroad crossing arms that were down. The train traveling north collided with the car shortly after.
 
As a result, both Escalante and Bororquez died at the scene. They were husband and wife from Kettleman City. Both were 57 years old, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
No one on the train was injured.
 
Police do not know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
