Motorcyclist Dies after Colliding with Van in San Leandro

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (August 3, 2022) – Jonas Anthony Rivera-Sanchez was killed in a motorcycle accident in San Leandro on Saturday afternoon, July 30.
 
The accident happened around 4:12 p.m. on Washington Avenue near Castro Street. According to the San Leandro Police Department, Rivera-Sanchez was riding his dirt bike north on Washington. For unknown reasons, the bike struck a van that was also heading in the same direction.
 
Rivera-Sanchez, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died. He was a 25-year-old San Mateo resident.
 
The van driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
It is still unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which is under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call police traffic investigators at 510-577-3208.
