John Dewit Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Baseline Avenue [Fontana, CA]

Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Stopped Car at Baseline and Palmetto Avenues

 
FONTANA, CA (April 9, 2023) – John Dewit was killed in a motorcycle accident in Fontana Thursday morning on April 6.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:07 a.m. at the intersection of Baseline Avenue and Palmetto Avenue. According to the Fontana Police Department, Dewit was riding his silver 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Baseline Avenue. At the same time, a 34-year-old Fontana woman was driving a white 2010 Chrysler 300 eastbound on Palmetto Avenue.
 
The woman stopped at the stop sign before crossing the intersection to continue north on Palmetto.
 
Dewit then struck the side of the woman’s vehicle, causing him to be ejected onto the roadway. Responding paramedics tried saving him, but he died at the scene. He was 57 years old from Eastvale.
 
The woman complained of pain in her neck and was transported via ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
 
The Fontana Police Major Accident Investigations Team and the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner’s Office are investigating the fatality.
