Driver Joey Hagedorn Dies after Car Becomes Wedged Under Semi-Truck in Baker

 
BAKER, CA (August 10, 2022) – 24-year-old Joey Dee Hagedorn was killed in a traffic accident north of Baker on Saturday morning, August 6.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:30 a.m. along the northbound 15 Freeway. According to the CHP, Hagedorn was driving a Mercedes-Benz sedan in the third lane of the northbound freeway when he approached a Freightliner semi-truck towing a trailer.
 
Hagedorn allowed the sedan to continue at a speed unsafe for the slower moving Freightliner ahead and made a turn to the right to avoid hitting the back of the trailer.
 
The sedan hit the trailer and went off the roadway into the desert. It then traveled back onto the freeway. It became wedge underneath the trailer and was dragged for a short distance before the truck came to a stop.
 
Hagedorn suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner.
 
A passenger in the sedan, a 38-year-old woman from Bell, suffered major injuries. A helicopter took her to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment.
 
The 48-year-old man driving the truck was unharmed.
 
Alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
